How to Get a Service Dog: Tips and Advice

Anyone know how to start the process of getting a service dog/medical alert dog? I’ve been really considering getting one some day because i have a lot of trouble when i’m on my own or out in public and maybe getting one would build my independence back.

Just a quick correction: emotional support dogs are NOT given public access like service dogs are. It is illegal to bring an emotional support animal into non pet friendly place as per the ADA laws.

Allie_May: omg yess! If you don’t mind that would be lovely. That is the type of dog i am looking for. One that can be cardiac alert. Would you want to exchange insatgrams or something so we can DM?

I can walk you through the process if you need it. I just got a puppy who I’m personally training as my cardiac medical alert service dog!

You also might consider an Emotional Support Animal. I don't know your situation. I have severe panic attacks. I've had 2 ESA's. They can go anyplace a Service Animal can go.
