thank you all for the responses. it’s crazy how meds effect everyone differently and how many or how little we have to take to find the right one. crazy

I’ve stopped keeping count. But I’ve tried at least 75% of the antidepressants on the market. All the mood stabilizers. All the chronic pain meds sans narcotics, and even Ketamine after a nasty series of car accidents. I’ve found largely, that most medications react poorly to my body chemistry, and it took 10 years to find the current effective cocktail. I’m optimistic about the improvement of injectable medications for chronic pains- those have proven more helpful over the course of my lifetime than anything else. Among the most effective for me: Emgality, Botox, sumatriptan, zofran, and Tylenol. Brownie points for Medical Cannabis.

for adhd, only two! vyvanse has been my go-to for years now but i’ve had friends who have tried it for their adhd, and it wasn’t a good fit. i’m very thankful i haven’t had to try tons of meds for adhd

Far too many to count!! I've switched meds so many times that I started to run out of new ones to find out If they worked. Turns out every ssri they put me on forced me into hypomania and after a week or two of that I got horribly depressed. Finally after they listened to me being bipolar I was put back on mood stabilizers without putting me on a high dose of an anti depressent( I take a low dose of trazadone for sleep). At this point I think I am on the combo that I can be on. Meds aren't a catch all thing. I had to accept that. My meds have leveled me out as much as they can, but the rest of it I need to work on through therapy and self improvement. I hate being reliant on meds, but I know if I'm not things will get worse.

I tried Zoloft for my first antidepressant, it wasn’t a good fit so then I was on Pristiq and adderall for ADHD for a while. Got A a Bipolar 2 diagnosis so I had to come off both meds and switch to a mood stabilizer Lamictal, and new ADHD med/antidepressant Wellbutrin (non stimulant) because stimulants can cause mania. Lamictal has worked great once we found the correct dose! I stopped taking Wellbutrin because I felt it wasn’t helping and recently tried stimulant medication again (adderall and vyvanse). They worked great except adderall has become less effective and Vyvanse affects my mood too much, and both make it hard to eat (although Vyvase was much worse, I lost 10 lbs in a couple weeks) so currently I’m unmedicated for ADHD and only take one prescription for Bipolar
