Holidays are rough. So I hope everyone is hanging in there and taking care. Maybe we can get a thread of coping tips together?

I sympathize with you! The holiday season is always very difficult for me. Recently I realized that what puts me most stressed is the multiplicity of family reunions. So this year I decided in advance which meetings to go to and which to give up in order to rest and gain strength. I believe that this way I will be more present in the meetings as I will get to them. I will update after the holiday :)

My best coping tip for holidays is to try to remind yourself that ultimately holidays are just rituals that help people feel connected to the passage of time and maintaining their relationships. Not feeling good during holidays doesn't mean there's anything wrong with or bad about you as a person. Try not to pressure yourself into performing happiness so much. It's ok to just be there.

If you celebrate it and enjoy the holidays, do a little festive decorating in your room. If you do makeup, do something that correlates to winter or the holiday u celebrate! If you don't like thinking about the holidays, watch a comfort movie or listen to some music u liked when u were younger

Don’t make the day about people who don’t deserve it. Spend time with people you like being around. Christmas doesn’t always mean spending time with blood.

Definitely distance yourself from toxic family that will trigger you. It’s okay to put yourself first.
