Tips for Helping Someone with Social Anxiety Start Therapy

So my dad has expressed to me an interest in starting therapy. I'd really like to help him get started. But he (like me) has severe social anxiety, and just the thought of having to talk to someone one-on-one makes him very anxious. I want to help him get there, and I'm okay with letting it be a slow process. Anyone have tips that might help?

Sometimes writing a script helps me, or a list of topics to discuss! Plus it’s comforting to know that the therapist is trained to help people with anxiety and will never judge! Just remind him that they have his best interest at heart and they’re trained for this sort of thing ❤️ If video chat/calling isn’t for him, maybe text chatting is up his alley! Some virtual therapy offers that :)

My dad used to come to my therapy appointments and sit with me. It helped a lot. My partner goes with me now. :3

Could you maybe sit with him during the meet and greet process of therapy? I know that having someone familiar helps ease my anxiety, idk if it's the same for others tho.

I personally do online therapy because of my social anxiety, maybe try to look into therapists that offer telehealth services?

that's what I do too! 😊 I have looked at the other therapists from the same office because I really like mine. But, even the idea of talking to someone online gets him stressed. I'm trying to gently help, but I don't know how to help him get past the anxiety and fear :/
