I can't sleep. Actually, I can't get myself to go to bed. I'm just sitting here basically doing nothing. Since I'm still up I'll probably fall asleep this evening between 6:30pm and 8, once again not spending any time with my husband. My insomnia is out of control and it's affecting my relationships with my family and friends. Idk what to do. I can't go on yet another prescription drug. I just want something otc but I can't decide which one. Any help on the sleeping pills would be awesome! I want to go to bed no later than midnight, rather than me laying down as my husband is getting up. I'm sorry this is so long but I am desperate. I sleep all day and then sit in my bed every night doing whatever. I'm sick of it. This is no life. I want to be awake spending my time with my husband. I miss him and we're both so lonely. Any thoughts? (please keep in mind I suffer from insomnia. I'm not just lazy🙂)

I actually have some. I never think to use them because they make me groggy the next day but I gotta do something so I'll probably take some tonight and see how it goes.

Over the counter my family has a bottle of melatonin, I'm against the idea of taking medication so I don't touch it I can't really tell you how good it works but it's readily available and I don't think you need a prescription

Fellow insomniac here. My psychiatrist prescribed Mirtazapine for me and it really works! I was averaging 3 hours of sleep a night and started mirtazapine and began averaging 8-10 hours a night. I call it "dream steroids" because you have the most vivid dreams while on it. After 4 or 5 months on it I noticed weight gain, which is a possible side effect, so they switched me to trazodone, and my body had become accustomed to the 8 hrs a night and I'm still averaging 7-9 hours a night.

@Dad.of.Many I can't take trazodone. It makes me so sick. We're talking trash can by the bed sick.

Hey there, insomnia is a real disorder and like other disorders which are sometimes treated with medications, there are good drugs to treat insomnia. Other than drugs, working out and jogging helps me a lot, just make sure not to that it too close to bedtime
