Help Needed: Struggling to Eat After a Month of Poor Appetite

at this point, any advice will help. I haven't been able to eat due to no appetite at all today and I know im really hungry but I just can't get up. I dread going to the kitchen because I know I'll just look through everything before deciding nothing looks good and I don't feel like eating or making anything. this has been nonstop for a week after I just started getting better from not eating more than a small meal a day for a month straight. I don't know what to do.

Can you help? connect today

I hope this helps you because this happens to me all the time. I eat saltines and drink dark chocolate ensure when i can't get myself to eat

For weight loss they always say "don't drink your calories" but drinking calories is better than not eating anything imo

I eat saltines too when I'm lacking on my solid food intake for the day!

I survived on watered down Glucerna (diabetic -and thus low sugar- version of ensure), for longer than I like to think about. Half a bottle and a blender full of ice, sometimes with a strawberry or two if I was feeling really adventurous, twice a day. Was inoffensive enough I could keep it down and gave me at least some calories, protein, and carbs. This was before I had to give up dairy however, so I don’t remember if it has any… if so I bet there’s a substitute.

I really appreciate that! I have access to strawberries and ice for a smoothie- unfortunately bc i'm hypoglycemic I recently checked the glucerna brand out and they do have dairy )-: but im sure I could find some dairy free substitutes somewhere online. thank you for sharing what worked for you 🧡

I have a sensitivity to dairy products and when I have moments where I don't feel like eating, I either drink those premade smoothie drinks with just fruit juice and sugar or stuff by SoDelicious or Silk. Tea helps as well. I hope that helps!

If you like soup, that helps me when I need to eat but can't.

Foods that are more easier for me to eat is cereal,it's easy to put together,it has both fluids and solids and usually taste good

I have what you're describing. You might look into "Restrictive Anorexia". My RA comes from my adhd. I'm either not motivated to eat or completely forget for days. For several consecutive months I was eating between 400-600 calories out of 2100 calories. My therapist helped me a lot and now I'm eating 1700/2100 cal. I'm really proud of it. Most of my calories when I first started addressing this problem came from chugging a high calorie protein shake in the morning. I still struggle eating solid food some days or remembering to eat, but I also have a great group of friends who always invite me for dinner when they go out to make sure I'm at least eating that day. RA is annoying bc food just seems unappealing or inconvient. It's a process, but my therapist got me eating again bc we identified some foods that were fun, which ended up being all the food from my childhood that my parents let me have in reservation. Now I'm in the process of trying to eat more mindfully as opposed to junk food, but the junk food got me eating again.
