Heart Monitor Results and Fear of CPAP

I just had a heart monitor and found that my heart rate dramatically slows and I have an arrhythmia at night. She thinks it’s sleep apnea and ordered a home sleep study. What are your experiences with home sleep studies? I’m also terrified of needing a CPAP, it sounds silly but I’m only 22 and already have a million health problems and really don’t want one more thing that will make me weird. Can anyone share any CPAP or sleep study experiences?

I've done a home sleep study. It's pretty easy, just a device you wear on your forehead while you sleep for a couple of days... Basically your insurance just wants this information before approving you for a real sleep study with a CPAP.

I’m 22 with a cpap! After my sleep study they found I was having 127 apneas an hour. That’s waking up every 30 seconds throughout the night. It’s better to be well rested than worry about the stigma. Also, I recently learned that Carly on iCarly was portrayed to have a cpap.

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea when I was 16, I have not needed a CPAP and not all sleep apnea requires one, it just depends on your severity. My father currently uses one, and it seems to make his quality and quantity of sleep much better. I have not had a home sleep study done, when I was a child I went into the hospital to have a sleep study done. They connect nodes to your brain, as well as a tube you breathe into through your nose throughout the night which watches your oxygen levels as you sleep. I honestly can’t remember much else.

that’s good to know thank you! Hopefully I don’t need a CPAP either!
