Transitioning to a Healthier Mental Health Support System

hello I’m used to using social media (like tiktok and instagram) to find help with mental health but that has negatively impacted my life and I thought since this app is built for that it’d be better for me/healthier to move over to this for talking about that kind of stuff

The biggest thing is learning what is and isn’t helpful, aka sifting through garbage to find things useful and applicable. Social media can be helpful, such as finding like people, but there’s also a lot of people faking and a lot of people who are taking poor care of themselves and sharing their terrible decisions on a platform. WebMD is a place that will make you think you have every illness known to man, but it can give you an idea of what to ask a doctor/therapist/specialist about. This platform *hopefully* will help people taking horrible care of themselves or not knowing what they need to take good care of themselves get advice from people who are more successful at keeping their health in check. There will be a lot of trial and error. Nothing is perfect and any space with multiple voices has a chance at having a negative impact. But there’s also the chance for a positive change. I hope this app can help you

Welcome! This app is made for what you're looking for. I remember wishing it existed. Don't pay too much attention to the negative nay-sayers. There are people on here who are just here to vent, but that's fine too! This app has been a great resource for me. I love the sense of community. I highly value community

Social media is not the place for health advice

yea, it was just so easy because I already had a sense of community on there and poor mental health is what we had in common. In hindsight though it was a dumb place to get help, I’m trying to get off social media now and get healthier.
