Health anxiety is frustrating, had an ulcer in my mouth for a couple of weeks now and at night I have the most anxious thoughts of if it could be more than just an ulcer

@bellacourse I hope you’re feeling better from strep I can’t imagine how horrible that must have been 😩 this is all stemming from a panic attack I had a couple of days ago that came from nowhere, it was a horrible chest pain I got and then I was convinced I was having a heart attack and now two days on I still feel so low in energy and struggling for breath, scared that I’m going to go through the same pain again 😣

I have serious health anxiety. When I got strep recently (at the time I didn't know it was strep because my doctor didn't test for it -_-) my temperature went up to 104 and I had to go to the emergency room. I was crying and hyperventilating and saying how scared I was. I was in the ER for almost 5 hours and didn't get home until around 4 am. Then, when I did get home, I fell asleep for maybe half an hour and woke up super delirious and then started having a serious panic attack. My heart was racing and I felt like I was going to pass out. It eventually stopped and I was able to go back to sleep. I've always had bad health anxiety and think the worst when it comes to things like that. I legit was afraid it was something super serious when in reality it was just strep (I only ever had strep one other time in my life and it was when I was a little kid). Everytime my heart races I'm like "omg I'm gonna have a heart attack" or whenever my temple hurts I'm like "oh God I'm gonna have an anyerism" (even though they are extremely rare) and stupid stuff like that. I have to keep telling myself that I am healthy.

I used to have health anxiety so bad I would think I was having a stroke if I felt a little bit of pain anywhere. I went to hospital once because I tricked myself into thinking I was having a heart attack. What worked for me was finding the right medication, and surrounding myself with calming people. Also, at least for me, over time I learned to tell myself that I've got through this before, I'll get through it again (if you're having an anxiety attack over something). Just know you're not alone! A ton of people go through this.

@prettylydi I appreciate this so much, I too am the same like anytime I feel any weakness in a part of my body or a pain near my heart I instantly think a stroke or heart attack, I don’t know why I’ve always been so worried about my health

@Synn I don't know either! I think mine became bad because of the situation I was in; I've had anxiety since 11 years old, but at 19 I developed an accidental eating disorder. However, this can manifest randomly! It's not fun. I really wish it wasn't a thing. Anxiety in general is bad enough!
