Health Anxiety: Obsessing Over Blood Work Results

hi i had to go to the hospital 2 days ago for side pain and they took some blood. Turns out it was just a strained muscle. My white blood cells came back slightly elevated in the blood work and my health anxiety is making me think somethings wrong. I called the hospital twice to have a nurse call me back about it. Whenever I see something a little off in my blood work I panic. I feel like they would of told me if something was wrong while I was there, but I can’t stop obsessing over it

Our bodies’ chemistry is very sensitive and even the smallest of changes (dietary, exercise, etc) can change our chemistry so as long as nothing came back drastically off in your blood work I wouldn’t worry about it if I were you. I understand your concern though, I have anxiety too and often find myself obsessing over similar things. Stay safe and stay strong Justine💪💗

i totally understand, i've actually been also having side pain (i also have liver disease) and some of my labs came back normal and one came back super high and they said it was fine, i didn't believe it. in america, our health care SUCKS, and doctors miss a lot of things. your anxiety is valid, especially regarding american healthcare. ask to talk to your doctor and have them explain exactly what that lab means and why exactly they say it's not worth worrying over, it will force them to genuinely evaluate if it's normal and give you a reason which should help you ease your anxiety.
