It hasn't happened to me, but anxiety can definitely cause those symptoms... Don't forget to breathe. The method I use is to make sure my exhalation is at least twice as long as my inhalation. That signals my nervous system to calm down, which then shifts me from my emotional brain to my more logical brain so I can manage the situation better. Or at least, not be so stressed out.

Ugh yes to both. So sorry youā€™re going thru this. Makes me feel very out of control when this happens to me. Last time my hair started falling out so badly that it grew back with little spikes but was still falling out. I had long hair at the time so it looked absolutely absurdā€¦ like a botched thinned mullet lol so I just buzzed it off. But that was the worst it had ever been- falling out from anxiety/stress then malnutrition issues from worsening stomach issues. Only advice is catch it early and take it as a serious sign when it starts becoming more than normal symptom. It takes a while for the hair to catch up once itā€™s falling out. Make some changes. This last time I waited too long to make some changes because it was like chronic anxiety/stress so I was just like ugh itā€™ll be fine itā€™ll go back to normal soon and making changes at the time seemed like more ā€œstressā€. Now I know first sign of hair falling out more than normal is red flag for me to get it together and prioritize taking better care of myself. I know a few other people that stress triggers hair loss and/or stomach issues as well. You arenā€™t alone. I hope it lets up for you soon.

Breathing exercises are just one tool for your toolbox to manage anxiety. There are many, many other tools. I highly recommend doing a Google search for "how to manage anxiety," and make a list of at least 10 things to try. As you try each one, pay attention to how much it eases the anxiety. If it helps *at all*, leave it on the list and commit to using it more often. If it doesn't help at all, cross it off, and go online to find something else to add to the list. Once you have 10 things on your list that help at least some, commit to using at least one of them every day. (This is in addition to any medications your dr has prescribed, if any.)
