Getting to Know Each Other: Digestive Issues

Hello, I'm Rahja and I'm interested in casually getting to know one another. So in order to start that off, why don't I ask a question? Lol ok so... if you have digestive issues how severe are they, and how much do they interfere with your overall mood and daily activities?? That's not exactly an average casual thing to ask a stranger, but I'm new here and trying to figure out the app.😅

I am 35 I have had ischemic colitis soo bad I almost died a couple years back. They still don't know scat caused it or what us wrong with me. I am constipated with diarrhea almost constantly together. I know that really makes no sense but even when it is very soft it still is extremely difficult to expell to say the least. The pain gets soo bad I get hot flashes and cramps. I get stuck in the bathroom for sometimes 20mins... my job gets really mad @ me on my sicker days but I can't help it. I had my gallbladder removed which I sware made things worse. I still occasionally vomit stomach acid with my migraines as well which is the worst thing that yall can imagine. I just wish all the pain would stop... 😭 I'm sick of crying I'm sick of pain I'm sick of being sick I'm sick of trying with no results I'm sick of being

Hi! I’m Samantha. I have Crohns disease (originally it was Ulcerative Colitis in 2018, and was recently changed to Crohn’s in 2021). I have a very severe case of Crohns which made me get an Ileostomy bag in 2018. I’m on Stelara right now which is working wonderfully! I still struggle with fistulas, lots of bloating, fatigue, hair loss, weight gain, etc. It’s rough, but I’m in school to be a nurse, and I’m able to workout as much as my body lets me! I do have days during the week though where Im just exhausted. I also have anxiety and depression from lots of surgeries due to Crohns, and so fourth.

Wow, that is a lot to deal with. I hope you have a good support system and people in your life that are understanding of your conditions. Is working a traditional 9 to 5 job possible for you, or have you figured out another way to earn money? Trying to get and keep a job has been a challenge for me due to my stomach/digestive issues.

Hello! I'm Nycole. I have Crohns disease, IBD, gastroparesis and gastritis. They are moderate to severe but affect my mood and daily activities to the point where I can't even get out of bed sometimes

I’m currently trying to figure out what’s going on. I often blame all symptoms on my chronic Lyme disease. But after a recent ER visit, I had a cat scan, and an upper endoscopy. They didn’t find anything. I’m worried now that I might have cannabinoid hyperemesis from using cannabis medically for the past six year. I’m sorry to hear you still don’t know what causes your problems. That can be so difficult. Have you tried elimination diets? Sorry you probably hear that all the time, but if not, gluten might be a good place to start. I’m guaranteed to feel awful if I eat more than a cookie sized amount of gluten

Oh wow, I didn't know cannabis use could result in such a condition. I don't smoke and I had never heard of it before now, so that's something new I learned today. I hope there's some sort of treatment to lessen the symptoms if that is what you have. As for myself, no I haven't done an elimination diet. It would be extremely difficult to do given my living situation and household, however it is something I'm interested in trying in the future. I've recently been keeping notes of symptoms and pains I experience. That way when I'm finally able to see a gastroenterologist it won't be as difficult trying to list what all I'm having issues with. I'm sure the list will come in handy.

I have pretty regular stomach pain and cyclical vomiting. My stomach pain stops me from working, going out with friends, etc. On days when I’m vomiting, I cannot get out of bed without throwing up. I get really upset about it often, especially if I’m throwing up for multiple days. It’s definitely a group of symptoms that gets me down often.

I'm so sorry to hear you experience that. Growing up my stomach pains would be very similar to what you described. It would happen often, but not so often that I had an idea of when it'd occur. The pain and vomiting would sometimes last for a few hours, and other times it'd last for days. As I got older my stomach and digestive issues have morphed into something entirely different, and yet I still have no general idea of a pattern in occurrence or why I experience such. Did you ever get checked out and diagnosed with what could possibly be causing your issues?
