Has anyone talked to their doctor about trying to get mobility aids through their insurance before?? I'm looking to get a walker or something that has a seat for my chronic pain and dizziness. My general doctor is very nice but I had a really dismissive general doctor as a kid and now I feel bad asking for anything or bringing up my issues with my doctor. I'm not sure how to bring it up to her in a way she will believe me. She knows I have chronic pain, it's in my chart, and she knows I get dizzy when I'm too hot/in pain or anything like that but I'm worried she'll tell me I don't need a mobility aid. Does anyone have any tips on how to bring it up and convince them my issues are real?

Based on the replies, some people suggest being straightforward and mentioning the struggles and why you feel a mobility aid will enhance your life. Others have suggested using phrases like "I'm having a lot of trouble keeping balance, is there any tools that can help me?" or "do you have any suggestions for how to deal with -ex problem-?". Some people didn't ask their doctor at all and just bought the mobility aids they needed.
