Getting ADHD Medication via Telehealth

Has anyone had any issues getting medicine for adhd via telehealth? I’ve been wanting to bring up my symptoms to my psychiatrist but I’ve been reading some things that say that kind of medication can only be prescribed with in person visits, can anyone weigh in?

I'm actually a pharmacist for a chain pharmacy and we can't accept scripts from those online only providers because they have taken an amazing idea and turned it into an Adderall pill mill. They actually have quotas on how many patients they need to see per day so that they're literally pumping out prescriptions. If you happen to have a local provider that is seeing you via telehealth visits but you have an actual relationship with them, that's totally legit and allowed. It's when they barely talk to you and throw controlled substances at you that it becomes illegal.

that completely makes sense and I get why the restrictions are in place to prevent abuse and over prescription etc, good to know there are exceptions and it’s not a blanket rule that applies to all telehealth practitioners so thank you!

They definitely do want to see you in-person before giving meds for ADHD bc I believe they are considered controlled substances. I had to see my psych in-person twice and after the second time I got prescribed meds

that’s what I was thinking, I wonder if I could do the in person visits and then go back to telehealth? Ugh I hate having to navigate the health care system
