Gastrointestinal Issues and Bathroom Habits

Maybe TMI here but are your bathroom habits like? my gastro currently thinks my vomiting issue is I don't poop enough. now I'm on medication where I'm having diarrhea and throwing up while doing so nearly every day. With gasteroparesis what are your bowel movements like and the frequency? Dr won't do another emptying test until I give these meds a try (Ive been trying different laxative meds for a year now)

I have POTS and gastroparesis and I fluctuate between constipation and diarrhea. Usually with gastroparesis it’s common to have less frequent BM because of less fiber in our diets. There are times I have some form of BM every day and other times it can be several days (longest I have gone is 12 days…it was THE WORST!). What’s helped has been coffee (if you can tolerate), increase water, walks, and if need be miralax, a stool softener, suppository, enema. Maybe even pelvic floor therapy. Sometimes I have to take these every day to stay frequent and sometimes not at all. Bodies are weird.

I find it strange that they always seem to ask if you have constipation *or* diarrhea when I constantly go between both, even when my diet and activity have been very consistent, and I've even had both at once. Consequently, sometimes I go a lot and sometimes I really don't. But it doesn't seem to have much of an effect on the pain with normal fluctuation, only when it's really far one way or the other like if I'm sick.
