Hello, I am newly diagnosed with GAD. Has anyone had any success with over-the-counter medication, supplements and vitamins to improve milder symptoms.

@Mashka thanks! I have been seeing a chiropractor for the past few months and seen some improvement. I want to try acupuncture as well. A nutritional oat is a great idea, I hadn’t considered that before.

I would suggest in general seeing a nutritionalist first and get on a dietary plan for correct vitamin intake and also chiropractor as with spine adjustments, it can help relieve some nerves that may contribute to your disorder. Also acupuncture.

Magnesium is a godsend for me but I can’t always tolerate it bc it lowers sodium and potassium and sometimes I’m too low in those already

@Kristin1389 I feel like the magnesium really helps with the tangent of thoughts I go into, and a stops some of the repetition anxiety provoking thoughts or topics from taking over.

I've had some success with melatonin and CBD but i mostly rely on pharmaceuticals. I know the idea of putting such a foreign substance into your body can be scary, but it can also be life changing. Physical activity helps loads too (i don't do a lot of that but it helps when i do).

@emptytank I’ve wanted to try CBD, is there a specific one better suited for anxiety?

@emptytank thanks for the suggestions. Right now I’m trying magnesium and L Theanine and Ashwaghanda gummies. I feel like the mag and L Theanine really help me decrease the ruminating thoughts that usually worsen my anxiety and sleep.
