Gabapentin effectiveness - how long until it works?

We noticed some effects immediately like within 2 days. But we'd had untreated nerve pain for probably more than a decade I think our nerves were very eager to take a break

Definitely a month! If you still aren't seeing results, I'd have your dosage be upped until you can. Then you can determine if it is good for you or needs to be ruled out from there based on side effects and benefits.

My doctor's standard statement about medications like gabapentin is that you might see *effects* immediately or soon after starting taking it; and for it to *stabilize* in your system generally takes 4-8 weeks. That statement helps remind me to give a medication a fair shot (unless it's making things worse, which is a whole different conversation!).

I just started it and this is my second month. It made it so I can sleep longer and I don't wake up and shooting pain down my leg. My dr is giving me two to three three times a day if needed. I take two twice a day.

11 years and it didn’t help me.

I'd say at most give it a month and if you see no difference then it's not the med for you.
