Frequent Nightmares and Trauma: Am I Going Crazy?

(I think PTSD is considered a neaurotic disorder? also, I an not diagnosed, but I am pretty sure I have it or C-ptsd) is frequent nightmares part of trauma by any chance? I can't stop having nightmares, haven't since my first trauma experience. it's always about the same two things, well most of the time. I feel like I'm going crazy.

Yup, I’m in the same boat. Weed can help you dream less if you smoke but tbh i still dream and have nightmares. But maany ppl lose their dreams until they get it out of their system. It also could be a side effect of some meds, or if you’re sleeping somewhere you don’t feel safe

UnluckyUnicorn put it very well. Yes, nightmares are a very common psychological response to trauma. If possible I recommend looking into different forms of therapy and coping mechanisms. Unsure if it will help, but perhaps try a weighted blanket? It may help your brain feel more secure when you’re asleep and aid in calming the mind and body before bedtime. Definitely helps me!

Thank you unluckyunicorn. I did indeed select it but I remember that one or two of the diagnoses I selected grouped because they were better known or something. Which is good. But terrible for my memory problems lmao.

Nightmares are very common with PTSD! I get nightmares and night terrors from my trauma. Also PTSD is a condition you can specifically select on here. You’re not crazy, but traumatised and that’s really hard. I’m proud of you for surviving ❤️
