So I’ve had focal aware seizures for years now and started trying to get diagnosed as of 2018 but still not luck with a diagnosis. How long did it take y’all to get diagnosed with your condition?

Well I was visiting my aunts house and I randomly had one in the bathroom. After that first time I'm not quite sure. I've been rediagnosed plenty of times in the past 15 years

Do you experience auras before a seizure?

@Dijah I think the aura is mainly the seizure like the de ja vu feeling and the stomach upset feeling and the disassociation

That’s the hard part for me, I’ve had an MRI, and EEG and an ambulatory EEG but I’ve never had a seizure during one of those tests. And I’ve heard that focal seizures are pretty deep In the brain and can’t be easily picked up on tests unless they are happening

I kind of got diagnosed on the spot. When I had my first seizure I went to the er. My parents described my symptoms to the neurologist, and said that epilepsy runs in the family. It wasn’t that hard to connect the dots and I was immediately placed on Keppra. What I’d suggest is talk to a neuro about it, describe your symptoms and see if they can get you on an eeg
