Fluoxetine/Prozac: Share Your Experience

I consider it a miracle drug for me. Taking it changed my life for the better. I actually sometimes enjoy life. It gave me mood stability with my bipolar/depression, helped my anxiety in general and tremendously helped my OCD- which nothing has ever helped with. It is also slightly activating which is nice so it doesn’t make you tired and it doesn’t have a significant weight gain like others do (in my experience). If you’re late for a dose you don’t get brain zaps since it has a longer half life. The only annoying side effect I had was acid reflux but I changed from capsules to tablets and I no longer get the acid reflux at all. I honestly have all good things to say about it. I’ve tried at least 7+ diff antidepressants and this was the best for me. But, like with every med, it works differently for everyone and their chemistry. And I’m def not a doctor. It works for me, and if you have the choice, I’d recommend giving it a shot. The worst that can happen is it doesn’t work for you and you try something different. I hope you find something that works for you!

I’ve been on it since the middle of last March. I can definitely see a difference but it isn’t quite as night and day as I feel like it would be. There are less days where I am feeling dangerous at an impulsive level. And my depression surges are less strong where I feel scared of myself doing something bad to me. Maybe I need a higher dose, but I am quite unsure. It is more of a push into the right direction brain chemical wise to me I suppose.
