First Time on a Mood Stabilizer

Met with my psychiatrist today! He said while meeting with me he was between bipolar, hypomania, borderline, and intermittent explosive disorder. He prescribed lamotrigine and hydroxyzine. Starting tomorrow and it’s my first time on a mood stabilizer so really hope it tones down my aggression and anger

      Yeess!!! The lamotrigine has helped me drastically. I used to be so angry all the time. Snapping at people. I'm able to take a breath now and choose whether I get angry or not. Good luck!! It's a good combo.

      I'm on lamotrigine! It really keeps my anger and stuff stable, it worked wonders soon after I started it. I hope it helps you too!

      Hello! I am so happy for you. I am currently on hydroxyzine and it helps a lot when I am feeling especially emotional (meaning feeling really ANY type of emotion). It has helped me calm down, but I’m not sure if it will help you when you’re angry? I have extreme irritability and anger and it’s been hard to find the right medication. I’ve been on Lamictal/Lamotrigine before as well and it didn’t particularly help so I got off of it. Idk, I hope you’re able to find something that works or that at least these medications help alleviate some of your symptoms! 💕

        @bunbunii I wasn't aware hydroxyzine helped with mood, I was prescribed it for just anxiety.

          @sonicobsesinter yes it helps with anxiety too!! I wasn’t very specific in what I said oops 😅 it just helps calm you down from like really intense emotions, and helps you feel a bit more stable when you’re spiraling.
