I have to get a colonoscopy for the first time and I’m so nervous! How was your experience? Any advice?

Depending on your current state of having Crohn’s the prep will be easy or very hard on you. Be careful to manage your pain and just be kind to yourself. The procedure is not bad, honestly that’s my favorite part is just getting to go to “sleep”. My advice would be to start eating softer foods sooner to make prep swifter and more painless

It’s gonna be fine. The only part that was bad for me was that I had to get an iv but they didn’t tell me that beforehand so I totally freaked. (I was super scared of needles prior to all of my testing for crohns) I got the iv and went under anesthesia and I came out kinda loopy. I went home SUPER tired and I slept for like 14 hours. I was completely fine the next day though, no pain or anything. You will be okay!

I don’t remember anything from the procedure. The prep was not fun but it wasn’t such a nightmare like I’ve heard people complain about

I’ve had three of the things. Personally the procedure isn’t bad but the prep part isn’t fun. I recommend staying near a bathroom, drink the prep (there’s more than one and it’ll depend on the doctor) as quickly as you can, drink warm chicken broth as a “meal” and can help prep move along too.
