Gosh people are really trying to scare you here. I had my first appointment last year and honestly I was terrified. I had no idea what to expect. The physical examination scared me the most. Everyone I talked to said it is what it is and that you just have to deal with it. I thought I was going to have a breakdown I was so nervous. It didn't end up being as bad as I thought. It was very uncomfortable and awkward but not as bad as I had expected. After the fact I do think I would have preferred a female doctor as mine was a guy. I think it would have helped with nerves.

Be ready for them to want to crank u open and look around. I wasn’t prepared for that at my first one and had a bit of meltdown. You can just say you’re not ready for that if you aren’t and they’ll be fine!

During your first gynecologist appointment, you can expect the doctor to ask about your medical history, symptoms, and any concerns you may have. They will likely perform a physical examination, which may include a pelvic exam. It's helpful to have questions prepared for your doctor and to remember that they are there to make you feel comfortable and address any concerns you have.
