Finding the Right Medication: My Experience with a Great Doctor

some doctors are so great :) i found an amazing dr and shes letting me do a ton of trial and error with meds so i can perfect my regimen the way i want. i just added propranolol on top of wellbutrin, abilify, and gabapentin, and it turns out it sucks, so in a few days im going to try out cymbalta. its really all up to me and my research. she readily offered me benzos but i refused. but ive been to so many doctors who gatekeep medication, and this one is so much more open. what are you guyses experience with drs?

I’ve been to a million doctors over the years. Some really bad ones and now, thankfully, I have a team of really great ones. It takes I think a bit of luck and big time being a self advocate. Your doctor sounds like a great one! Just make sure she is telling you about each one and not just giving you completely full control, if that makes sense. She is still the doctor and needs to guide you bc she is the expert. If she is giving you full reign and not doing the important part that I just recommended, that is a bit of a red flag, IMO. I’ve been to a million psychs and I’d rather have one that is a little more snug to keep me safe than one that is loosy goosy BUT I fully respect what you want in a doctor! Just some advice!
