Finding Joy in the Little Things

The Orange At lunchtime I bought a huge orange The size of it made us all laugh. I peeled it and shared it with Robert and Dave— They got quarters and I had a half. And that orange it made me so happy, As ordinary things often do Just lately. The shopping. A walk in the park This is peace and contentment. It’s new.The rest of the day was quite easy. I did all my jobs on my list And enjoyed them and had some time over. I love you. I’m glad I exist. Wendy Cope. When life feels like walking uphill in a downpour, taking joy in the little things is so hard. I know it's rough, but I am so proud of you for making it this far. "I love you. I'm glad I exist," is what I'm working towards. What small thing are you working towards that will make you feel better?

I love this type of poetry. I'm stuck in some POEtry right now if you know what I mean, so it's really relaxing to read stuff like this. Thank you 💕

You might like two headed calf by Laura Gilpen. It has the nihilist look of Poe, but is so heartbreakingly hopeful.

Beautiful poem! Thank you for sharing! I'm working on simply establishing a personal structured routine. Part of what worsens my depression is feeling like my entire life is in free fall and I have no control of even the smallest things. So I'm trying to ease myself into a routine, just some small things that I'm to consider daily checkpoints. Minor accomplishments meant to remind me that I am in control of my own destiny.

Routines are really big for me too. Even when it's hard to get out of bed it makes me feel better that I have a system to stick to.
