Struggling with Fibromyalgia and Feeling Ignored by Doctors

God I thought I was alone in the pain 😭 I didn't think anyone understood what I was going thru. My parents think they know but they don't. I suffer from fibromyalgia as well as severe lower back pain. But the drs don't know why. I can't be on pain killers because I have an addictive personality. So I'm always crying or something. Trying to hide the pain from my kids because they get sad when they see me hurting like this. Sometimes it comes on suddenly, anywhere, and it jerks me forward. Like I'm being hit by a truck from behind. Taking my breath away. I'm on 3 morning pills and 7 night pills for severe anxiety, depression and other mood disorders because it's literally killing me inside. I don't want to live with this pain.

I am happy to talk to you too. The doctors honestly don't believe in fibromyalgia but us that have it know its definitely real. The pain, the brain fog, the ibs, the tiredness etc.

Hi there. I am also struggling bad with fibromyalgia. I’m very sad and depressed. It’s hard to not think about how good I used to actually feel and move around to this…. Pain everywhere, feel stiff, bad chest pain, pain around my armpits, just recovering from a cold is extra! Everyday I just wanna go back to how it was. It’s very accepting this new normal. I’m on meds but they do absolutely nothing as my body is just immune. I cry most days alone. No one will ever understand this pain unless they’re in your shoes. Otherwise you seem like a complainer or a hypochondriac or someone who just don’t know how to take care of themselves. Fibromyalgia needs to be taken more seriously. It’s painful as fuck!!! And it’s for real! But sorry to rant and I’m sorry you too have to deal with this. Can’t say it gets better cause it hasn’t for me it feels worse. This is super common with fibromyalgia. When I was first diagnosed about 18 years ago, I had an excellent doctor that treated me with painkillers and anxiety meds that absolutely saved my life. Then he tried and I had another doctor who did the same. Then he tried, too. Then the "opioid crisis" hit, and suddenly no doctor will prescribe anything but exercise and aromatherapy. Screw that! I almost died from this fibromyalgia. I nearly killed myself because the months of constant excruciating pain was absolutely too much. I finally decided to break down and try alternative drugs because I had no other option. Cannabis and kratom have saved my life.

I am happy to talk. I understand this fear and frustration. It took me years to find doctors who take me seriously and want to help me. Trust your instincts. The doctors are not living in your body feeling what you feel. Their job is not just to treat your symptoms it is also to ensure you are comfortable with and understand the care you are receiving. And you have the right to change doctors at any time for any reason.
