Receiving a Fibromyalgia Diagnosis: A Win or Loss?

Just officially received my Fibromyalgia diagnosis! Not sure how to feel.. maybe relieved after no definite answers for so long, but also somewhat sad that it's official. I'm still counting it as a win!

It's always a bit of a relief to know what's going on. It's also a big upset to find out you have a chronic illness that will probably only get worse over time. Please feel free to reach out anytime.

I heard it goes worse until it gets to a "plateau" of sorts but that level is different for everyone 😅 not the most helpful but I try have hope eventually one year it won't keep getting worse and just stay the same

When I was diagnosed I was well enough to take myself to my favorite ice cream shop & had a mini private celebration in my car to honor my strength and resilience. Even put a little candle on top of my scoop to make a wish. I smiled and rejoiced as well as I cried and grieved. I’ve celebrated every year since. Being diagnosed with chronic pain/illness is a difficult experience to endure, but it’s a new chapter in your life and I think it would be nice if you’re well enough to take a little private moment to feel all the feels & comfort yourself. You are not alone. Sending you love & healing. ❤️ U got this.

this sounds like a great idea. I've been too swamped with work and uni to take a minute to reflect. I'll definitely do something to mark the occasion. Like many people with CIs, it took a lot of persevering and advocating to get to this point, so a celebration is definitely deserved. Thank you ❤️
