First time post here: I deal with Fibromyalgia and have to balance a 40hr a week job. I make 18 dollars an hour managing a salon and quite frankly, its starting to cost more to work than not. I love my job and my employees but I have no sick time or vacation days to tap into during flare ups and working through the pain is damaging me psychologically. Have any of you dealt with this kind of issue, or come up with solutions with your employer?

I can definitely relate. I’ve had to adjust to the new circumstances of having to deal with chronic illness . It has not been easy and is an ongoing battle. I have been working part time as a dog groomer, I work around 20-25 hours a week. It’s a physically and mentally stressful job…I use to work full time but had to scale back and workless and less. I take as many breaks as I can during the day, and work as little as I can. I have to make sure I don’t overdue it on my days off too because I have to budget my energy levels. It’s really hard working with a chronic illness ❤️

Everytime I worked I pushed myself so far and had to quit, because how damaged I was. If you are comfortable I would bring it up with your employer. Reasonable accommodations, see if you can scale back hours if you financial can handle it, make it known to your coworkers so they might be understanding. It's worth a shot. There is only so much you can do before your body and mind will give out. Talk to HR if there is one/ look into how to ask for accommodations. When you talk to your employer make sure you focus on how you getting accommodations/ scaling back hours will benefit the company rather than yourself. Also look up on Google some accommodations other people have used in jobs like yours. I wish you the best. I hope you can make it through this friend 💚
