Dealing with Parents' Comments on My Eating Disorder

My parents don't know I have an eating disorder (I'm 23 and was 21 when I was diagnosed) and keeping making comments on my weight and what I eat. I don't really want to discuss it with them, any tips on dealing with this?

      @Rors I do, but I currently live with my parents while I put myself through grad school, so avoiding them isn't really an option.

      There are some very helpful dietitian Instagram accounts with recommendations! With my parents (similar situation) I used to try to just change the subject. For a while I also tried to only be around them when other people were with me. These don’t “fix” anything but they helped me a bit for a while. Do you have support from other people?

          @ARStark I am in a very similar boat as you. I just completed grad school, am living at home, and have struggled with disordered eating since I started college in 2015. Oddly it makes me feel better to know I’m not the only “older” person who has an ED. That said- my parents comment on my body often as well. My only suggestion would be to be honest with how it makes you feel, and you don’t have to necessarily bring up having an ED - just kinda saying like “I appreciate that you care about my health, but I’m working on being comfortable in my body” lol I don’t know honestly - I am very much in the same position - and they still comment 🙄
