Anyone else feel like their stuck in a rut? I want to start improving in my art and practice as much as I can, but I feel as if I getting nowhere, which doesn't help by seeing other people improving so much. If so, any advice?

i made the mistake of measuring my progress in art by posting everything on an instagram account and simultaneously following hundreds of artists. every day brought a constant stream of posts by people who were much farther along on their art journey than i was, and it was crippling to my motivation to even pick up a pencil. i measured my "progress" by how much time had passed since my last post, and got upset when it'd been too long. i haven't drawn much in the past few years as a result... it's sad. but, i say that to tell you that you are on your own art journey that no one else should make or break for you. every improvement and drawing that you make is yours 100%, and is 100% progress no matter how fast it seems other people are producing and improving at their art. ownership and healthy separation goes a long way. most of all, treat art for what it is: something you enjoy. don't force yourself to drill technique for hours on end or beat yourself up for not making the best possible piece that you dreamed of. enjoy the process, slow down, and appreciate everything you make. i'm sure you're a wonderful artist, OP. :) keep drawing. cheering for you ♡
Well, remember that art is not just paint or draw, you could cook something artistic or find the best way to express your art as you need, just never stop to express your feelings even if it's writing non sense.
try not to thing of it as getting nowhere! just (draw, paint, etc.) whatever your feeling in the moment without thinking about it. and if it doesn’t come out to be anything that’s okay! this can act as an emotional outlet! also art shouldn’t be compared, it should be appreciated. i really hope you’re able to get over this block. you got this :)
Try drawing something intentionally bad, maybe? One of my artist friends does that
