Feeling Misdiagnosed: Anyone Else?

Anyone else feel like they've been misdiagnosed for several things and not being treated correctly? After years of fighting to get the diagnosis I did I feel like there has to be more to what is wrong with me personally. anyone else relate or have experience talking to their doctor about further testing?

Can you help? Connect today

Yeah I've had that with multiple conditions. Took me ages to get fibromyalgia diagnosed, they thought it was MS

I finally got taken seriously about testing when I took my son in for it. I think I have a couple other misdiagnosed issues, but I'm not positive on what they are. It's difficult.

For sure. I had imaging done, an endoscopy, and saw several different specialist about symptoms I was having (years ago) & they all just basically shrugged it off & told me to take some antacids -_- turns out I was experiencing tight junctions bc I have a gluten sensitivity. Just bc it wasn't celiac, they acted like it was nothing. Doctors need to constantly educate themselves- they can't just go to school once & expect to know everything. That won't help anyone.

I was diagnosed with OCD, bipolar, borderline personality disorder, PTSD, and anxiety. I have all the symptoms but it just seems a little much, it's like the are over diagnosing me 🤨

I’m going through it now. Years of fatigue & body pain everyone is saying due stress & depression, which can contribute & im in talk therapy now but they’re about to send me to physical therapy soon. This isn’t the first time I’ve been in PT. I thought they were gonna send me to a specialist to see if it’s autoimmune disease bc only they can give me the proper diagnosis but I was turned down since you have to meet some criteria. Instead they said in 6 months do more labs. In the meantime they said hopefully physical therapy helps… 😕🤷🏽

Yes. But with mental stuff personally. I've been in therapy since 2016 every week at least. All the previous therapists told me I was making things up that didn't make sense with what I was diagnosed with, and then would tell me I was "doing real great on your BPD." Yeah I don't have bpd lol. I got undiagnosed with BPD and now it's back to the drawing board even though by this point I know it's either DID or a schizotypical disorder. I took several tests for schizophrenic symptoms and stuff and they said my results were good for not having Schizophrenia or anything like that. But now my insurance is being an ass about letting me do testing for DID, which is 800$ out of pocket where I'm at when I AM using insurance, no clue on without it. So I can't get the treatment for the disorder without being proven by a doctor that I have it, but I can't be tested for it according to my insurance because it isn't medically necessary even though my PCP, my therapist, the lady who did the schizophrenic tests, and my med provider all tell me I REALLY NEED to go get tested. It sucks.

if you can, try to have those doctors contact your insurance to tell them the tests are necessary for you. Sometimes you can get an override that way! I hope you're able to get a diagnoses soon. Good luck!
