i feel like every area of my life is unstable right now and i don’t know what to do. i’ve felt pretty apathetic lately but i finally broke down today for a few minutes before pulling myself back together. i’ve tried counseling and lexapro, but the counseling wasn’t helpful and the lexapro made my GERD worse, which made my anxiety worse, and now i’ve stopped both. i feel like i’m just spiraling and like i have no choice but to keep going even though everything just seems to keep getting worse. i don’t know what to do.

Have you tried other medications besides Lexapro? I highly recommend trying other medications if one doesn't work. I know it's a long, annoying process, but it's worth trying if it means feeling better. I took four medications before finally settling in my current one - they weren't even for the same thing as this! Also, I always tell people who feel like this to try minimizing stressors in your life. Even if it's just one thing, it could do a lot. A few years ago, I felt this way. A lot of things were happening at once. The thing that quite literally saved me was simply dropping a class at semester. I was still stressed all the time, but not as much. So think about your commitments and which ones actually matter. Find things that calm you, ground you. Obviously they won't just vaporize your anxiety, but they can help. I've learned to do anything that can help because they all stack together.
