Feeling like a fraud

Does anyone ever feel like they’re faking it? Especially on my good days it feels like oh maybe I am actually fine and these past several years have all just been me being dramatic. On my bad days I know that’s ridiculous but it’s hard not to feel that way. Can anyone relate?

Can you help? connect today

Absolutely. Just today me and my sisters and mom were walking in a store for a long time and I started sort of limping because my ankle and leg began to get really bad pains and then they started looking at me funny.....like i wouldn't limp for fun im in real pain its just an invisible illness

I had to wear a neck brace briefly just because of a chiropractor appointment so I wouldn’t mess up my adjustment and it was kinda nice having a physical symbol of my invisible illness, people held doors and things like that and it was really helpful!

I was accused of faking more than once, especially before my disability was approved. I like to tell people to be glad they don't understand

Yes. It’s the worst. I have to use platform crutches every day and I still feel this way

people don’t get that we don’t want to do things like use mobility aids, but we have to!

10000%. I even get told it’s not as bad as I say it is! I was able to buy a cane and it’s helped being able to SHOW my pain now. I hate when I have good days because it feels like maybe I am over exaggerating. I have to sit back and realize my usual day is walking with a cane or wearing braces to protect my joints, so I’m not being dramatic

yeah when I have a physical symbol of my pain it’s better. Good days are great but also kinda suck for sure!

Just had the same thought the other day. Then I did too much and the next day I was reminded of just how real it is
