Pointing at things or typing on a keyboard
The American sign language sign for jelly fish is an absolutely delightful stim
I'm starting to learn ASL, and communicate a lot through texting or writing things down. I usually don't struggle speaking, but I have a hard time hearing people sometimes and people have a hard time understanding me sometimes
I type in my phone notepad and show the person I want to talk to.
Hissing like a cat
I often talk in gifs
I like pointing to things, or pulling someone toward something; and if it’s necessary, I find mirroring what I need help with to be intuitive. But I love writing so much more than talking, and gifs/emojis when words aren’t coming.
ASL! I've only started learning it recently. My bf is fluent, so he teaches me. It's a total game changer for when I'm really overwhelmed. I am capable of talking, but it's like it uses 80% of my energy instead of 10%. So when I have to talk it just makes everything worse. I couldn't even BELIEVE the relief the first time I knew enough ASL to sign to my bf when I was overwhelmed. Eager to learn more!! Maybe a summer project :)
I do grabby hands when I want something (to my friends lol) or I'll like slightly whine about stuff I don't want to do
Animal noises like little meows to indicate my mood. Sounds weird but it’s so much easier than finding the emotion words I need
I like to use my head nods some times but mostly strange faces... My husband has learned very quickly it's simpler to just ask yes or no questions 🤣
@Cleigh I also find that my face does a lot of talking about how I’m feeling, but I don’t think it’s super easy for others to pick up on.
sign language! :) i took it all throughout hs for it and my bf loves learning it to talk to me sometimes :)

@angelgirl I havent been able to take any courses so I use a mix of sign and random hand signals!
I've confused one of my physical therapists by simply pointing at something I needed. The something was the body armor drink I had brought that day. I ended up having to talk, but it wasn't much.
@ToastyToast I've most often seen annoyance in response to pointing but that's probably because my culture considers pointing with your hands to be rude
I like to just type it out then have them read it when I'm done.
@Atlas I have an app called emergency chat for that bc I like to do that in non casual settings but I usually use hand signals and basic sign language
i do like weird mmmmmm whines, i’ve learned not to do it around anyone but my boyfriend because it’s annoying. sometimes he does it back to me to make me feel more comfortable :)
@vlynz I love this I'm glad you found a partner that's so supportive💕💕
@vlynz I love when my boyfriend makes my sounds back at me! He does it a lot when he's confused about why im making sounds which makes for a funny conversation when I do it to him while I'm not paying attention/aware of it so we're both confused
