I was diagnosed with NAFLD 2 weeks ago and am learning how to make it better or even possibly reverse it. I admit I was eating very poorly for a while, like in reality probably about two years. When I was pregnant with my daughter I had really bad HG and could not eat properly for the first 25 weeks. After I had my daughter in November PPA hit and I literally had to force myself to eat most of the time. I feel that my poor diet over the last two years has been a huge factor in my diagnosis. I have added to my diet more veggies, fresh greens, good fats, fruits, and I also added a roasted dandelion tea that I drink twice a day. I have cut alcohol completely, sugar, fatty foods, fried foods, sodas, and I try to keep the salt out too. It's still taking some adjusting and I'm still learning how to make it better. I also read that turmeric, lemon, avocados, dandelion root, milk thistle, brussles sprouts, beets, apples and zinc can all help cleanse the liver and make sure you're drinking plenty of water. One thing I have learned is that the liver is resilient and can heal itself, you just have to manage what you are putting into your body before it's too late because this can turn into cirrhosis. Also make sure you are following up with your GI or Liver specialist if you have one.
