Does anyone else here feel that Borderline Personality Disorder has a big stigma attached to it?

I'm discovering that the older I get, the less I feel that I'm at fault for any of this. I'm living each day, trying to be the best person I can be. It's getting easier, and I'm grateful for that.

I have a wonderful trauma therapist that I see on Zoom...once a week. She's helped me so much. Talk therapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, work far better than my meds. I wish you the best

I struggle so much to be heard. I feel misunderstood because it's such a hard diagnosis. I feel like people will always assume the worst or not take me serious. I went to urgent care for a rash and the Dr. Straight up asked if I had Bpd. Because I guess I take mental health meds and she thought I was too worried. I felt like something is wrong with me if other people can guess. I feel like this diagnosis is a jail sentence. Sorry didn't mean to go on. It's been awhile since , well actually the first time ever, I've met others with bpd.

@Purplelover8838 I I understand you perfectly...I was made by a shrink to feel shame for BPD.He gave me an antiquated psych test, and before he'd even talked to me, he told me I was a danger to myself and society at large. He pissed me off. I checked myself out, because he'd prescribed meds that made me nod out and drool on myself.

@Migisi I am happy to have found this app because it is exhausting to be misunderstood and everything I ever hear about bpd is always about what is wrong. Sometimes it feels like Noone understands what it's like to be the one living with this. I would love to find a Dr. Or therapist To help with that.

He was a terrible doctor...when he billed me, I refused to pay him

When I was first diagnosed, a really bad shrink said he wouldn't treat me because I would always lie to him!
