Tips for Exercising with Exercise-Induced Asthma

Does anyone have tips for exercises or routines that don’t exacerbate exercise induced asthma. I’ve gained weight since the pandemic (and because of meds) and I find it hard to exercise because my breathing gets rough and my muscles get sore easily. To make it worse I live a bit up a hill so every time I go for a walk I have to shlep back up and I get winded.

In my case, if I only do weights, I get bulky, so I need to do cardio as well. For me, cycling helps!

Strength training and go SLOW, do more reps. If you can’t do cardio, walk a lot. Drink lost of water and avoid sugar. Get your sugar cravings from fruits instead.

you can also focus on strength training rather than cardio, as it’s a bit easier on the lungs but still works your body. or personally for me i found that my asthma tends to spike when my lungs cool down too quickly. waning off slowly from something high intensity rather than abruptly stopping once i’m done helps prevent that.

Hey, I’m an athlete with asthma. I find it helps to try and workout inside with more moisture in the air. That helps me at least. Starting out at an easy pace and working up to a harder pace helps to ease into it as well. I’m not sure if this’ll help.
