Is Excision Surgery the Best Option for Endometriosis?

For some reason OBGYN hate the idea that there is something better than BC and ablation surgery. I figure it’s due to lack of education, but so many of them don’t want to be educated either about it. I too was told by one that excision was a waste of my time, I was surgery seeking, etc. Still went ahead, did excision, and to be honest it’s the best thing I ever did. No it didn’t make me completely pain free, but I even woke up in the recovery room in less pain than when I went in. That to me already said a lot. It’s given me the ability to heal far beyond what I thought was possible. Now I’m leading a very normal life and in very minimal pain. Definitely worth it in my opinion.

With any surgical procedure there are risks. They can’t even give a proper diagnosis without a laparoscopy, even. Seems silly to deny someone such a procedure if there’s an established medical need, they’re a candidate for the procedure, and they’re giving informed consent. You’re prob being told this by doctors because endometriosis isn’t as well known as it should be and I’m sorry they’re steering you away for those reasons! I would understand if there was another concern that interferes with surgery but without that….? Though surgery alone wasn’t enough to put my stage 3 endo into remission, it reduced my symptoms significantly. I did NOT have fun recovering but it was worth it.

You're probably sitting in the wrong doctors office if that's what they're saying. There is no cure for endometriosis, but plenty of women have put their symtpoms into remission after surgery. I'd go to another doctor who knows what they're doing- check on Nancy's Nook and see if there's a doctor near you for starters. My surgeon was really skilled, got me into pelvic floor PT, and helped me get on the right track after surgery
