Feeling Excluded and Misunderstood Because of Mental Illness

Does anyone else feel looked down on or excluded because of they're issues? Before the mental illness started I felt loved and respected by friends. Now I feel like everyone just ignores me or talks over me as if I was a small child that wasn't able to understand. Or they get sick of my weird behavior and cut me out. I'm not a different person just because I'm sick, I just act strangely at times due to my illness. I'm not developmentally delayed I'm mentally ill. For some reason most people are too stupid to understand that.

Hey, I know the feeling. It's like that for me too. Since I was diagnosed with the disease, people think that if they are my friends or close to me, they might "get infected" with the disease, like the flu. People started moving away and not keeping in touch precisely during the times when I needed them the most. It was a good lesson to understand who my real friends are, and it was with those that remained that I was able to strengthen relationships very much.
