Need advice on Endometriosis and Slynd birth control

Hi! I'm new to Alike. But I've been recently diagnosed with Endometriosis, and my Dr put me on Slynd birth control to hopefully help the pain, and it was helping at first, but now I'm having pain again and I've been spotting/bleeding for 2 weeks now. Has anyone else experienced this or something similar, and what would be your advice?

      @Belugabear I am 100% with you on your comments about orilissa. Doctors oversell the drug and make it sound a lot better than it is. I unfortunately didn’t give it a second thought when it was offered to me by an OBGYN and I’m 2 years off it, still having joint pain and memory loss because of it 😓

      I didn't necessarily bleed but it probably took about 8 months for the pain to go away for the most part. I still periodically get stabbing pains to my ovary but not all the time now like it was

      I spotted for quite a while when I started continuous, but it went away afterwards and hasn’t returned 🙂

      I had a 42 day period after starting birth control this last time after years of using the same birth control. No accounting for your body's reaction.

      When taking birthcontrol I went through every diffrent type of bc and spotted for months. I would recommend getting the Depo shot. It stops most womens periods and the less blood that comes out the less endo pain youre gonna feel, less time for build up of endometriosis cells. Look into the depo shot, the only side effect that ive had is a little weight gain but if your move at all its not going to be bad at all. I had surgery in 2020 for endometriosis and the pain was back within 6 months, after taking the depo shot, it was gone within about 2 months and its been about a year and a half with no pain.

        @Sarah2017 Hi! Thank you for responding, it's nice having other people who are going through the same things to chat with. My dr did present the depo shot as an option for me, but I'm hesitant to try it. Luckily the depo is progestin only, as I react poorly to extra estrogen (causes bad thoughts and feelings), however I'm afraid that if I did have a bad reaction like that to depo, it's in my system for at least 3 months, whereas pills I can stop immediately and it works it's way out of your system rather quickly. My other hesitation is with the possible side effect of lower bone density. So I'm not certain if its something I should or want to try. I've heard that many people have found it helps though so I'm not sure yet if I want to rule it out completely yet either. 🤔

      Hi! I hope I don’t overexplain things but since you’re new to endo I thought I’d give you some basics! If you haven’t already, join Nancy’s Nook or read their website. Birth control May or may not help pain. Every one that I tried helped for a maximum of four months and then it got worse again. I also had a six-week period. The only way to actually get rid of your pain is excision surgery. Not ablation either. I know it may sound scary but it is so worth it!! At the least I would recommend finding a true endometriosis specialist. Nancy’s Nook has a wonderful list. Most doctors really don’t know what they are talking about when it comes to endo. It’s so frustrating! I hope I’m not speaking out of term and that this is helpful to you! My PMs are always open if you have questions or need help with anything at all!

      Not overexplaining at all, I appreciate any info! I'm going to go check out Nancy's Nook as soon as I finish this post lol I've done a decent amount of research on my own but I always appreciate new resources! I've seen that birth control may or may not help unfortunately, but I want to exhaust the least invasive options I have first before surgery. I am seeing an Endo specialist, and through discussion we decided to try me on this birth control to see if it helps first. It looks like we're going to have to reevaluate. I know the other thing he suggested we try before jumping to surgery was putting me in a menopausal state with a medication, I think its called orlissa? I'm not sure if you have any experience with that, but if you do, I'd love to hear your experience! Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, especially with such detail. I really appreciate it 🥺❤

        @Nuggie I’m so glad you’re seeing a specialist! However them considering Orilissa definitely gives me pause. I have been on it twice, despite warnings from many people, and hated it both times. Some people love it, but it did nothing for my pain. And be prepared for hourly heat flashes! It also is a very short-term solution, as it can lead to severe bone loss. Definitely do not go on Lupron if that is suggested. Orilissa is safer but still not great. However if you really want to avoid surgery I totally understand wanting to try it! My first time on it it actually worsened my pain. But everyone is different! Read about it on Nancy’s Nook, they have way more information on it! If you have any questions or want to talk more I’m just a message away!
