I’m about halfway through my treatment, started inpatient now I’m going back 3x a week. I wasn’t responding to meds and now I haven’t had suicidal thoughts in over a week!

There's also Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). It was recently approved for bipolar, though I think it's harder to get approved by insurance without trying ECT first. It's less invasive and time consuming. I'm only just learning about these options, too! Neither works for everyone but both are safe and potentially very effective. ❤️

I haven't myself but I very recently heard from two therapy group mates that the procedure itself is not as scary as it sounds. I was looking into it myself and am told it can be very helpful to those who are not responsive to medicine. You do, however, generally have to continue with medicine, for bipolar or depression patients at least, after the treatment. It's not a replacement. Hope that helps

Thanks. Yes I am no longer responding to medications so I think this is the next step for me. I heard from the doctor that is doing my ECT that is doesn't get rid of medications but can help lessen how much you have to take. So that would be nice, considering I am on a handful
