How long do ovarian cysts last? I had one at 2.6 cm in June and today the ultrasound revealed it’s now 2.65 cm and there’s another one slightly smaller. My doctor said I don’t need to come back until December for another ultrasound unless the pain gets worse. I only have 1 ovary so surgery isn’t an option.
The duration of an ovarian cyst can vary. Some people have had cysts that last a few months, others only a few weeks, and some have reported having them for years. It's not as common to have them for years, but it does happen. The size of the cyst is also a factor to consider. If it's large enough, your GYN doctor should be able to remove it for you so it doesn’t cause problems. However, some cysts can remain for a long time and it's best not to ignore them.
