Dealing with Drowsiness from Anxiety Medication

Does anyone else struggle with intense drowsiness from hydroxyzine? i can never take it regardless of how anxious i am because i will seriously fall asleep within a half hour. as a college student i can’t afford to be this tired in class. are there any recommendations for anxiety medications or a way to cope with this?

Hydroxozine knocks me tf out!!! I'm in college as well and take it as needed for anxiety attacks. I have disability accomodations that allow me to miss a few extra classes and assignments

I take my hydroxyzine hcl as a nightly medication because of the drowsiness. I also take Buspirone as needed for anxiety attacks, and I don't get noticable side effects from it. It could be worth looking into different anxiety medications

There’s actually two types of hydroxyzine! The pamoate version tends to cause drowsiness, which the HCL version doesn’t. I’ve had much better luck with the HCL.

Makes me go to sleep too when I'm not taking it everyday. It's an Anti Histamine 1st Gen so a common side effect is drowsiness. I drink a lot of black coffee to combat the drowsiness.

ask your doctor to mess with the dosage see if it helps, maybe drink a caffeinated tea or coffee as a pick me up. i take hydroxyzine but it doesn’t make me tired so i cant speak from experience
