Venting about my driving anxiety

Hi, I just need to vent before I have a meltdown here. I have a 30 minute drive I have to do today. Usually it’s no problem at all because I always go the same way, but the roads I take are closed and I have to go a different way. I’ve used the alternate route to get to a place about a mile from there, but never to actually get there and it’s stressing me out so much because that’s not the way I usually do it and I feel like I’m going to have a panic attack and I’m just really frustrated because this should be so easy. I know the roads, and I’m going to use a map anyways, so why am I so anxious about this?? I get that it’s the autism but that doesn’t make it feel more rational. I know it’ll be fine in the end though. Ugh.

It's hard. If you can give yourself time at the end of the drive to have a bit of a panic or melt down afterwards. It helps me get through the hard things knowing I can have the feeling when I'm done.

I plan to. I’m getting there early so I can cry in the parking lot. I do that pretty regularly. If I get it out then I’ll be fine on the drive back.
