Driving Anxiety: Panic Attacks in Crowded Places

After my accident I’ve been scared to drive very far so I have been going to the same grocery store for about 2 years. About 2 months ago I tried to go to a different store and I had a panic attack. I got very dizzy and then I started snowballing down with anxiety and I just wanted to sit in a corner and cry I could not finish my shopping and I’ve realized this is happening more and more whenever I go to a new store or a crowded environment. Anyone else have this issue?

Please check into EMDR. A lot of therapists can do this. It changed my life. ❤️

You might be suffering from PTSD. It may not be related to the whole shopping experience but it could be related to your accident. You're terrified to step out of your comfort zone. I completely understand that. I'm so sorry that you have to face this kind of anxiety. Sometimes PTSD will keep you stuck in routines you know so well just to protect you from all the little unknowns of the routines that aren't familiar.

I definitely do have PTSD I’ve been diagnosed with it. I figured it was just from driving but now I’m realizing it’s more than that and anything too different or visually stimulating is rough. I made my dog into a service dog because she helps me when going out and that has helped me a lot.

Yes! Sometimes at Walmart I get so overwhelmed I just walk out and leave my cart.
