How does doxepin help with intrusive thoughts?

How does doxepin help you? For me, it kind of quiets my intrusive thoughts. It doesn’t make them go away, it just quiets them.

I’m on doxepin for anxiety and skin picking issues I have. I take 50mg in the morning and 100mg at night. I’ve been on it for almost 2 years.

It is an antidepressant but it is a sedating one. If you need help sleeping, it will definitely help you there. You may have to get a little more sleep because if not you’ll feel a little hung over. I have taken it for over 30 years now for PPMD. I could probably quit taking it as I have been through menopause and should? no longer have the PPMD but I think my body is dependent upon it. If I don’t take it, I don’t sleep at all.

I use it at night for pain and to help me sleep as I have painsomnia.
