When you’re going through a bad depressive episode do you feel physically week? I’m having a really horrible mental health day and even something as simple as standing feels exhausting and I can’t even do things like turn door knobs. Writing this took forever because it’s hard to move my hands. I have chronic pain and fibromyalgia as well which don’t help, but I was curious if anyone’s mental health physically makes them weak like this.

Absolutely. It genuinely takes a lot of my physical energy when my mental energy is gone. Just being awake is exhausting. The thought of having to stand up makes me tired, and doing dishes or laundry just seems impossible. I could no more stand at the dryer and fold clothes than I could run a marathon.

Absolutely. I always get weak and tired when my mental health nose dives

yes, I do! I have other chronic pain so I feel like my body is already weak and worsens. when I’m depressed, I won’t want to do anything. I work from home but I’ll have zero energy to do that and it’s like my body’s light engine is off. I won’t want to eat anything and I’ll hardly drink water. I think with some chronic pain involved, it does kind of double in a way if you already experience that- or that’s in my experience at least
I experience this too. I’ve found that lots of forms of stress, both internal (like mental health issues) and environmental (work, personal relationships etc.) can impact my body. I also know that my mom is the same way.
Yup. Theres a sound going around on TikTok about "peoples depression gets so bad they don't brush their teeth?" And it's absolutely true. Being both physically and mentally exhausted is just part of it
@f_Felixx_x omg yeah person hygiene gets sooo hard for sure

I only have depression and it gives me various symptoms like feeling generally weak and dizzy/lightheaded so I absolutely relate. On worse depression days I find myself slowing down for simple movements like chewing, when I would be going faster on a better day
I also have the same thing happen. I usually get so tired from doing simple things that I have to stay in bed. It's like my entire body is unable to do anything
Depression can definitely be a contributor to chronic fatigue, I frequently go catatonic and cannot get up or do anything but sleep when it gets too bad.
@AnimalBoy I have chronic fatigue anyway, today it felt doubled! Thank you for the comment!!
Yes I think so
YES! Me all the way some things just take so much energy! ❤️
@Moomoo72 that described it perfectly! I might steal some of what you said to explain to my family why I’m incapable of helping around the house today because they don’t seem to get it
Depression definitely can do that but the fibromyalgia definitely doesn't help. Legit, I'm going through a similar thing and would love to talk if you feel up to it.
