Dismissive Doctors and Weight Blame

my doctors are so so dismissive, i fit the criteria for both Heds and pots (both have lots of genetic links in my family) but it is always blamed on my weight:/ no matter what my weight is i have the same symptoms, but due to chronic pain and dislocations and heart rate making me faint with intense movement it is so hard to lose weight. i have to lose weight for support with those conditions but i cant lose weight without support or treatment

i’m going through the same thing :( i have heard through others that it would be best to see a geneticist if you’re worried and heds - a lot of other doctors don’t seem to take it seriously.

Definitely consider a complaint to the office or system your doctor works for. You might look for a local EDS Facebook page and ask for doctor recs there. Wishing you well

Next time, ask for them to document that they are refusing to evaluate you based solely on your weight, and tell them that you need a copy of that document before you leave. There's a really good chance that they'll change their tune. If you go to a new doctor that does evaluate you and determines that you have hEDS or POTS, you have a malpractice lawsuit on your hands. A lot of lawyers will take those on commission, so they would get a percentage of your winnings. And most importantly, that would mean that those doctors can't dismiss any other patients for their weight.
