Other than your doctor telling you, how did you find out you had/have fibromyalgia? What was done about it?

My mom suffers from fibro. When I described my symptoms to her she told me that’s probably it. The doctor just approved my diagnosis

I’m still not diagnosed but when my insurance gets cleared up I will be seeing a rheumatologist

It took me doing my own research, then presenting said research to the physician, to get a diagnosis. My doctor said 'it's quite possible' then proceeded to prescribe the latest greatest medication on the market at $900 a month for a prescription-just to see if it works. Miraculously, it did help! Now, I'm in the process of trying to get off of the meds, since I've been taking the max dose for 3 years and now finding out it causes liver failure. Getting off the meds is worse than the disease itself.

My dr diagnosed me based on symptoms several years ago. I was prescribed 500 mg of Naprosyn twice per day. This was before the dangers of stomach damage were fully known. This treatment went on for about 7 years. Damaged my gut and now deal with GERD, gluten intolerance and egg allergy. Not sure if any of this is related. But be careful and do you research. Best wishes.

It took several tests and the process of elimination, but my primary doctor made the diagnosis. Then it was confirmed by a rheumatologist.

There isn’t a test that tells you that you have it. It’s more of a process of illumination

Did you have test ran or just a general conversation to get diagnosed?

Took me 16 specialists to finally diagnose me because there are so other underlying problems that come with it
