how long into dating someone new do y’all start to tell them about your mental illnesses?

So if you ask me, I would say as soon as you meet that person. Sadly, some people don't like that much directness and honesty. They just want to figure it out as they go along like a river. I just don't get that.

I sadly had a partner that straight up told me that he couldn't really accept my anxiety. Like thanks dude, would've liked to have known earlier before dating you selfish dumbass. But that's just me. I want to know if that person can handle me before trying to date me so that way, neither person feels like they have wasted their time. I'm just direct and straight to the point like that. Some people for some reason just can't handle that much directness and honesty and honestly I can not for the life of me figure out why.

It depends. I usually try to do so beforehand because I think it's an important thing for someone to know before committing to me but it really depends on the people involved. Dating whilst mentally ill involves having a lot of extra boundaries so I'd probably say sooner rather than later in case your partner needs to be aware of your wellbeing in a potentially stressful situation, you know?
